Whether it’s a neighborhood barbecue or a family grill-off, don’t stress this summer getting ready for those fun, warm weather events. Stick to our shop-hopping itinerary to clear that to-do list and have some fun along the way. (Note: Check in with these businesses beforehand to see if they have any special instructions during the MN Stay Safe order.)

The Anchor Coffee House

10:30 a.m. Drop anchor at, well, The Anchor. Fuel up with one of the brews locally sourced from Northwoods Rotisserie in Lindstrom, Minn. Or, swing by their convenient pick-up window for your caffeinated crave.

Looking for something with more bells and whistles? Opt for a delicious latte or cappuccino.

GoodThings

11 a.m. Alright, so maybe you got a little sidetracked browsing gifts in The Anchor’s new retail space. But now you’re back on track, hitting the pavement and heading east on Fourth Street to GoodThings.

And with an inventory that changes over so quickly, we can’t hold it against you for a little extra browsing.

Now that that’s out of your system, it’s time to get serious again: barbecue. Luckily, there’s a section catered perfectly for your mission, which you notice immediately upon finding Stonewall Kitchen’s bottles of Boozy Bacon Barbeque Sauce.

“That sauce is a top seller,” says owner Tyler Conrad. “And our number one grilling item is our grill brush.” Perfect for cleaning up the grill after your last big shindig. Smokers more your speed? GoodThings also carries grill claws for perfectly shredding meat.

The Olive Branch Oil & Spice Company

11:45 a.m. Walk a little more on Fourth and you’ll hit Banning Avenue. Taking that north will deposit you at the door of The Olive Branch Oil & Spice Company. Nothing simplifies a cookout more than having a go-to seasoning on hand.

“We’ve got all kinds of rubs, seasonings, salts and peppers,” says co-owner Pierce Edgerly. Some of his favorite recommendations for grilling include their varieties of smoked salts and peppercorns.
