White Bear Lake native Robb Jones, the creative mind behind Minneapolis’ Meteor and Stargazer cocktail bars, shares two of his favorite cocktail recipes with us.

Classic Daiquiri

A well-made daiquiri is Jones’ pick for best cocktail ever. His favorite person to make a drink for? His wife, or, “Anyone that lets me just make them a daiquiri and trusts me to do that.”

  • 2 oz. good rum
  • .75 oz. 1:1 simple syrup
  • .75 oz. fresh lime juice (from actual limes)

Combine everything and shake. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime wheel. Drink it!

Brainwaves (a Robb Jones original)

Though he rarely drinks alcohol at home, Jones keeps it simple when he does with a martini or Manhattan. “Honestly, vermouth on the rocks is great. It’s already a bottled cocktail.” Brainwaves is his own take on a classic Manhattan.

  • 1.75 oz. Irish Whiskey
  • .5 oz. Dolin Dry Vermouth
  • .5 oz. Cocchi Americano
  • .25 oz. Rothman and Winter Orchard Peach liqueur
  • 1 dash orange bitters

Combine everything and stir until desired dilution. Strain into chilled cocktail glass or on the rocks. Garnish with a lemon peel, expressed and inserted.
