White Bear Lake gluten-free bakery sets off on new adventure.

Two springs ago, local gluten-free bakery Brody’s 579 took home the Best New Product Sofi Award for their gluten-free Orange Blossom Honey Muffins. Now, the brand continues to grow and spread their gluten-free goodies across the Mahtomedi area and beyond.

“We were at the Specialty Food Association,” says founder Kathy Schwartz. “Numerous people told us we should enter and so we thought, ‘Well, let’s give it a shot.’”

After submitting their product for consideration by a panel of judges, Brody’s 579 was honored with the award. “There’s only one they give out per year so that’s pretty cool,” says Schwartz.

The Orange Blossom Honey Muffins can be found along with other Brody’s 579 products at an ever-increasing number of locations. From Lunds & Byerlys to Hy-Vee, Brody’s 579 recent acquisition by Valley’s Own Bakehouse has done a lot to spread the availability of these tasty gluten-free treats.

“Nothing changes for any of the products, they’re all the same, and they’re still owned locally,” says Schwartz. “And we’re still continuing to grow.”
