When will the ice go out on the lakes? It’s anyone’s guess.
For another year, White Bear Lake residents are invited to predict the ice-out date on White Bear Lake and Bald Eagle Lake in the annual Ice-Out Contest.
The contest, hosted by Nimble Impressions’ Rally WBA, is free to enter and offers an array of prizes, all supplied by local businesses.
Claiming to be the “biggest ice-out contest in the country,” the contest is supported by businesses from Dellwood, Forest Lake, Hugo, Mahtomedi, Maplewood, Oakdale, Shoreview, Stillwater, Vadnais Heights, White Bear Lake and Willernie. Bringing these communities together helps to create a community-driven event that celebrates the arrival of spring.
“It’s a fun, engaging contest that ties into the culture of our area,” says Alan Haskins, founder and spokesperson for the event. “We are thrilled to see local businesses support this event, and we’re excited to keep growing the contest into something even bigger every year!”

Winners will also get a commemorative pint glass along with other prizes.
The contest also asks participants to share their favorite local business along with their guess, giving the community an opportunity to shine a spotlight on beloved restaurants, shops and more.
To participate in the contest, visit rallywba.com to submit your guess by 11:59 p.m. on March 14.
